OAT MILK MOISTURIZERS
One of our founding principles of Ephemera is only using the highest quality ingredients; and, for the most part, that means starting each and every recipe from scratch. When we say Ephemera Handmade; we mean it. Every infused oil we use is infused in-house. Our Witch Hazel Astringent is made with herbs, water, and alcohol right here. The oat milk for our Oat Milk Moisturizers starts out as oats, water, and herbs.
Each of out Oat Milk Moisturizers starts out with a base of an herbal-infused oat milk, hemp seed oil, and most contain our house-infused witch hazel (the Dry Skin formula does not); we then add a blend of custom carrier and essential oils. We won’t go into witch hazel today, because that on its own deserves its own post; but I do want to talk about the ingredients that really make these moisturizers stand out: the herbal infused-oat milks and hemp seed oil.
Hemp Seed Oil
We decided on Hemp Seed Oil as our base oil for our Oat Milk Moisturizers, because it is an amazing skincare oil with benefits for all skin types. It is non-comedogenic (it will not clog pores), and is known for its outstanding antioxidant properties. It is healing and soothing, while also moisturizing and hydrating while gently cleansing the skin. While this all sounds good for normal or dry skin; it is also great for oily and acne-prone skin because it is a sebum (oil)-regulator. Hemp seed oil “tricks” the skin into thinking its made enough oil, and so that it doesn’t have to make as much over time.

Herbal-Infused Oat Milks
One of our earliest priorities was to set out to make an oat milk moisturizer. I played and played with the formula, and got something that was pretty good. I was mostly happy with it; but I felt like just infusing oats into distilled water was a lost opportunity. We had the space to incorporate a lot of extra nutrients and benefit to the product. I immediately decided we would infuse herbs to boost the overall goal of each product.
