Welcome to Ephemera Handmade
Our Story:
We are a female owned and operated small business out of Alameda, CA. I had always been really interested in chemistry, but dropped it as my major in college because my advisor told me it wasn’t a viable career if I ever wanted to have a family. I became a business major, and for my corporate career I was an accountant. Once my kids were born, one of them happened to have really sensitive skin (just like their mama). I got tired of constantly having to skip brands of things because of formula changes, so I decided to do my own research into natural ingredients that would not only be non-reactive to my kid, but also be beneficial. Over time, I would start developing products that we as a family could use.
I started giving these out to family and friends as gifts, and they kept wanting more and more. After many years, lots of research, and a series of unexpected life changes, it was finally time to put my products out into the world, and Ephemera Handmade was born.
Our Values:
Connection - we exist because of connections
Connections between the hands that make our products and the hands that use them
Connections between our customers and quality ingredients that help
Connections between our customers and their bodies
Minimal, Quality Ingredients - you don’t need a lot of ingredients when you are using quality ingredients. When we are developing recipes, we see each ingredient we add as another potential for someone to be reactive to the product. Each ingredient serves a purpose towards the end goal, and we don’t add anything else
Essential Oils Only (and only when necessary) - we only use essential oils (NEVER fragrance oils), and we only use them when they are serving the purpose of the product, and we only use therapeutic amounts; you wont get any overpowering scents here.
What to Expect:
Environmentally Friendly Packaging (as best we can) - we use the most environmentally friendly packaging we can envision. We do our best to avoid plastics (and it is absolutely our goal to someday be 100% plastic free), so you will see lots of glass bottles, metal tins, and aluminum tubes. The packing peanuts we use are mostly recycled, and are water soluable.
A little goes a long way - because we don’t use any fillers in our products, you don’t need much of them. For the most part, a little dab will do you; you can always add more.
Everything is handmade and hand packaged, so everything may not come identical or machine perfect. I keep close records of batches and exact notes on preparations, so if you have any questions; don’t be afraid to ask.
